Private Security Services Advisory Board
The Private Security Services Advisory Board (PSSAB) is a standing committee of the Criminal Justice Services Board (CJSB). Members are chosen from the security industry and appointed by the CJSB to provide policy advice on regulation of the private security profession in Virginia, typically nominated by the trade associations of each regulated discipline. One PSSAB member is selected by the Governor to sit on the CJSB. Charles Cicotti, a private investigator, is our representative as of September of 2010.
PSSAB meets quarterly. During public comment, industry professionals are welcome to make remarks, suggestions or presentations to the PSSAB and attending Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) staff. Meeting dates are posted in advance on the DCJS website (see the Internet Links page for the link).
By law, electronic security has two seats on the PSSAB. As of July 1, 2010, we are represented by Seth Oginz (Roanoke) as the senior member, and Mary Kay Wakefield (Richmond). Ideas to enhance regulatory policy of our industry may be submitted to them for presentation to PSSAB if you are unable to attend the meeting. They welcome and encourage your input.
